Big Bang: Small Arms of Argentina

ADD TO WISHLIST >

We are pleased to announce that after a two year hiatus, Big Bang: The Mostly Illustrated RPG Guide to Modern Weapons has returned to publication. This is not simply a continuation of the existing series, but an update to second edition.

With the second edition of the line, we introduce a new, focused approach. Each book will focus on the small arms of a particular nation (and perhaps just one period of a nation's military history), with each book formed by a systemless core book, plus game-specific appendices. This core book is provides the "fluff", the raw information on the weapons and real world statistics. The information provided is even more detailed than before, adding new statistics which allow the series to support even more game systems. Coverage of multiple systems is forthcoming in the form of system-specific appendices, the first few of which are already available. The appendices are available as separate files, allowing you to mix and match your downloads at your convenience.

With second edition, we intend to provide support for at least 14 different game systems, though this may increase with your feedback. Four of these appendices have already been published, with a fifth due within days.We also introduce a new portrait format, paper size layout that eliminates the need to constantly scroll up and down while reading.

This first book of the second edition focuses on the small arms and support weapons manufactured by the nation of Argentina. In this book, you'll find details of every side arm, SMG, rifle, MG, rocket launcher, ATGM, grenade, mortar and landmine they've made in the last few decades, plus custom weapons they've bought from other nations on an exclusive basis, dating back as far as the 1870's. Nearly 60 pages of material, covering over 125 weapons, conveniently divided by weapon type and family.

It has been noted that many buyers (currently 60% of them!) choose to not receive product updates. Check your download links regularly for updates and added files if this is the case.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
