Thanks for the quick reply.

That clears up the issue of the garbled text. I didn't realize the different systems were on different layers. Sorry about that. Now that you've pointed it out, nice feature!

As for the zip file, I use WinRAR, and it opened the MM_VTT_files.zip just fine. As for the Mission_Mercy_tablet_eds.zip file, it allows me to see that there are four files in it, but only two will extract.

BTW, I don't see the individual tablet files. They're not showing up in the list of available downloadable files.

Ooops. My mistake again.
When updating files there's a checkbox you have to click to make the changes retroactive to previous orders. This time I made sure to click it. And verified that they showed up in my library.
If, for some reason, you still don't see: Mission_Mercy_Entropic_tablet.pdf, Mission_Mercy_Fate_tablet.pdf, Mission_Mercy_Fudge_tablet.pdf, and Mission_Mercy_MA_tablet.pdf email me at customerService@paNikproductions.com and I'll send them to you as attachments or via google drive.

Please don't apologize; you've provided valuable feedback about our product (which clearly we've done a poor job of explaining. A feature that one doesn't know how to use might as well not exist). It is I who should apologize to you for making you post 3 comments on the same issue -- so I will. Sorry for that.

Thank you again for the quick reply. And no need for you to apologize either. Great customer service, btw.

The individual tablet files are showing up now. Thank you so much!

I'm sorry for your trouble but I thank you for letting us know about the problem so we can fix it.
I've uploaded fresh copies of the files -- and have posted individual files for the tablet editions instead of zipping them up.

Regarding garbled text in the polysystem file, are you seeing some paragraphs with overlapping text? If so, that's a "feature" not a bug. Each system is on a different layer, so you can switch back and forth between systems by showing/hiding layers. Alas, not every reader application supports PDF 1.5 features, which is why we also supply the tablet editions. It's the same content, just in a simplified (and single-system) format.

If I may ask: What application are you using to open the files?
(If we can, we'll test future publications with it to make sure they work for everyone).

Found another bad one. Some of the files won't extract from Mission_Mercy_tablet_eds.zip. Thanks :)

The text of MM_Just_Stats_polysystem.pdf is garbled. I use the SW version, so I'm not too concerned, but I thought you might want to know for anyone else using it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
