Rules for Zero Level Player Character Creation

Hello and welcome, adventurers and Game Masters!

This supplement contains an adventure into the Lands of Faerie, where the players will face all sorts of riddles, traps and nonsense before discovering the fate of the lost cats of Breyburgh and perhaps (if they are very lucky) finding a leprechaun and thereby nabbing his pot o’ gold, coercing a wish from him or gaining some other grand reward the bards will sing of! It is compatible with OSRIC, 1E and 2E game systems, and its recommended for 4-6 player characters of levels 0-1.

SYNOPSIS: You’ve spent your whole life among the stolid, staid and downright stubborn people of Breyburgh, a city of goat herders that actually takes its name from the tenacious animal’s vocalization. As a young person growing up in this boring backwater village, you always thought you were special and meant for something different. Something more than the life of a farmer, a goatherd, a miller or a tanner. You’ve dreamt of something grander: a life of adventure!

Your escape has always been just a dream, until now. Something strange and troubling is afoot in the village of Breyburgh. The cats in the village have gone missing. First one or two, which could be explained by forest predators, but now all the cats in the village are gone…and no one knows why.

As luck would have it, now there’s a visiting stranger involved, a magic user no less, whose feline companion went missing. He’s offered a reward if someone can find his lost cat Jasmine and return her to him. This is the chance you’ve been waiting your whole life for!

It’s your time to shine! If you and your companions can find this mage’s cat you just might become “The Heroes of Breyburgh”.

Hi Neil, thanks for your comment. I have another module available at a lower price point, SO1 Eternal Knight, if you want to try my adventures out with a smaller investment. That being said, I put a lot of time, effort and my own funds into creating these adventures and I believe they are good value for money, and priced competitively based on the market. All the best!

Hi there. Look, I'll admit it, I am intrigued by Way O' The Fae, but until I see a few reviews there's no way I can justify spending $10 on it. Out of the blue you're asking for more money than some total, widely reviewed, classics. Like, say, Vornhiem. And I just can't spend more than $5 under the circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I do wish you the very best. But $10, it's not for me.

In case you were still interested, Neil K, Way O' The Fae is on sale for the next week, for $6 instead of $10. (Sales blurb says 20%, but it's really 40%).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
