Mark Chase's Atomik Alienz...

On par with high-tech gizmos and ray guns, alien creatures are among the dominant features of science-fiction. Since the turn of the century aliens have been everywhere - from Verne's fantastic space adventures to the exotic aliens of Larry Niven. The aliens are already among us, thousands in every bookstore, television channel, and movie theater across the globe. They terrorize our darkest nightmares and stand at the twilight threshold of our wildest dreams. But just as aliens may be fearsome world-conquering monsters, so too can they be wise and benevolent saviors of our own self-destruction.

Atomik Alienz is a generic Add-On which can be used with any game system. This book allows you to create any creature, world, or civilization imaginable, and includes comprehensive information on planetary systems, astrophysics, exobiology, and advanced civilizations based on the research of Carl Sagan, Michio Kaku, Nikolai Kardashev, and many others.

Add-on notes are now included with this product - no other downloads are needed (specific conversions can be found here).

I hate him, I hate him I hate him. If I was going to design and alien book (and I was in the process of doing so) this is exactly how I would do it. What this essentially means, is this book rocks. If you need an alien maker this is pretty much it. It [...]

This product has a LOT of discussion material in it - about half of the document. It is pretty good material for those who aren't already in the know, however, and is useful. It does kind of wander back and forth between humans in rubber suits and al [...]

Atomik Alienz, like GURPS produce (Space, Aliens, Bestiary) and like Hero products (Star Hero, the alien race book), puts together a wide variety of other-world creatures. The difference is that without a specific system, Atomik Alienz can suggest cre [...]

Thought-provoking in parts, but no more than that. Editing is substandard. Can't seem to decide if it is hard science or Star Trek and doesn't serve either genre well. The quality of science varies sharply between sections but in general is not compreh [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
