“Terese was in trouble, and had asked me for help. I guess it was good I was going to Earth, even if it was a long way to go.”

The friends you make in service during times of war stay with you. So when one asks the Player Characters for help in a suspicuiously vague message they become embroiled in a race against time to not only save their friend but also themselves.

‘A Life Worth Living’ is the first adventure in Stygian Fox’s ‘Near Heavens’ setting. It is a challenging scenario that pits the player characters against a corporation that is used to getting its own way and uses certain criminal gangs to enact its will.

From Groombridge 34 to the Sol system, this book gives a brief overview of the setting and a thrilling, fast-paced adventure of interstellar proportions.

My point of view is clerly less enthusiastic than those I already read here.
I am very disappointed by this adventure!
Good points:
- nice and appealing maps and artwork (though it lacks a kind of unity)
- hard S.-F. univers that seems interesting (inbetween Alien and The Expanse)
- the will to introduce soflty progressive cultural ideas in the universe (like LGBT problematics)
Bad points:
- It lacks some maps! For exemples: In Pacifica, why having the "admninistrative building" maped but not the detention ceter where the adventure should manly takes place?
- The text is full of typos ans grammatical errors. I mean, really full!
- You have a table of contents with page numbers but... no numbers on the actual pages...

More important:
- the adventure in itself is not very interesting. An old war comrade tells you to go there. Or there. And there. And, as you have nothing else to do in you life (that is worth living... -sigh-), you...See more

Wow, this is fantastic. The narrative bits are exceptional. Is this intended for a straight Traveller setting or is it more 2300AD? It definitely has that grittier 2300 feel to it. I really hope to see this setting expanded.

Really liking this adventure and the brief glimpse of the setting. Any plans for a Near Heavens setting book and the like further down the line?

Hi Stephanie, I'm sad to hear this title has not been picked up more. Really hoped to see further expansion of this setting, but understandable that doing so is not really viable. But thanks a lot for this great product, and at least I'll have it available for future inspiration for my homebrew efforts! :)

Same here. Excellent product, and fantastic setting work. Shame sales were not sufficient to see more, but I understand.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
